ENGAGED in Artificial Intelligence

Tilburg University, partner in the ENGAGE.EU Alliance, will host a conference on "AI in Education" from June 22-24th, 2026. The program will be centered around six themes. The target audience is deliberately broad: allowing for different parts of the ENGAGE.EU university community – leaders, learners, academics and professionals (such as IT, legal, policy makers, educational designers and technical developers) to reflect on changing perceptions and practices in our education due to the rise of AI. We invite those working on AI in Education to share their insights, best practices, tools and policies.

Conference Themes

We welcome contributions related to the following aspects of AI and Education. These topics are intentionally formulated broadly as to promote diverse perspectives.

  2. Teaching and learning with AI
  3. AI-aware assessment (incl thesis)
  4. Equity, Diversity, Inclusion in/with AI use
  5. Legal framework, policy, requirements
  6. Technical progress: which LLM, safety, training, use

Contributions from ENGAGE.EU universities may use the following formats:

Type 1: Panel session (60 minutes)

A panel session is made up of short, thought-provoking and stimulating presentations from two to four expert speakers, followed by a discussion with the audience under the guidance of the session Chair. The Chair is tasked with briefly introducing the speakers and stimulating the discussion of different viewpoints among speakers and participants. Interactivity and creative session types are highly encouraged. You can propose a panel topic with one or more contributors already listed.

Type 2 Tutorial (20 min)

A tutorial consists of a short session designed for hands-on learning, demonstrations, or case studies. These sessions are ideal for presenting your institutional tools. Please make sure tools are online accessible or downloadable on the spot.

Type 3 Round table discussion (60 minutes)

Structured conversation where participants share ideas, opinions, or expertise on a specific theme. Key characteristics include open dialogue, equal participation, and collaborative problem-solving. The format allows for in-depth discussions.

Type 4 Interactive Workshops (60 minutes)

An interactive workshop format is a structured, facilitator-led session designed for active participant collaboration, moving away from passive lecturing. These workshops last 60 minutes, are aimed at hands-on sessions. These sessions may focus on enhancing student engagement, streamlining administrative tasks, or e.g. developing responsible AI policies.
