The Conference
Engage with us during this impactful CELEST project conference on December 4th, 2025 from 9:15 am - 5:30 pm as we hear from experts in the field of land sobriety from ENGAGE.EU partner universities and organisations including the Hanken School of Economics (Helsinki), WU (Vienna), LUISS University (Rome), the City of Helsinki, Akanthas, the National Institute for Circular Economy, the Land Transition Institute, Toulouse Métropole, Cerema Occitanie, and Toulouse Capitole University. Professors, researchers, partner organisations, and students of all levels are welcome to attend.
A brief description of the CELEST Project
Urban expansion and unsustainable land management have degraded over 60% of European soils, accelerating climate change and biodiversity loss. The EU’s 2023 Soil Monitoring Directive—the first regulation of its kind—aims to restore ecosystem health by 2050, though its ambition remains debated. The CELEST project responds by exploring circular economy solutions for urban wasteland, focusing on policies and best practices to transform unused spaces into sustainable assets.
