In the past three years, ENGAGE.EU received additional funding from Horizon 2020 to further strengthen the research and innovation dimension of the alliance. This project ENGAGE.EU Research and Innovation Strategy was coordinated by Tilburg University. What are the main results of this project and benefits for the alliance?
Key deliverable of the additional funding is to formulate an ENGAGE.EU Research and Innovation Strategy which holds a thematic focus on digitalization, sustainability and climate change, health and wellbeing, diversity and strong institutions. These topics are considered as the areas where ENGAGE.EU partner institutions are strategically aligned, and where international collaboration and co-creation of knowledge are critical.
In the past three years there has been room for experimentation. They have piloted some activities matching the strategic themes, for instance, an R&I Think Tank in Bergen, but also on other strategic approaches to institutional transformation such as a Leadership programme, trainings on open management and open science. In the end there have been quite some outputs and activities developed. For instance, new partnerships have been developed, new programmes and workshops have been started, a staff academy course catalogue has been launched and digital platforms have been developed.
The thematic topics will serve to give further direction to ENGAGE.EU Research and Innovation activities, while being flexible, forward-looking, and inclusive to new, future-oriented topics.
