Christina Nikolova is a Professor, Head of the Department of Economics of Transport and Energy and Vice-Dean for Research of the Economics of Infrastructure Faculty at the University of National and World Economy in Sofia.

She has been a part-time professor at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Vienna, Austria, since 2008 and at the University of Heilbronn, Germany – since 2017. She has been a Deputy Director of the University Center for Sustainable Development at the University of National and World Economy since 2013.

Christina was granted a research fellowship on Economics, Policy and Appraisal in the Institute for Transport Studies, University of Leeds, UK, funded by the European Commission under the Marie Curie Programme in 2006 and another one on Infrastructure, Development and Finance within Oxford Leadership Programme: Global Challenges in Transport, organised by Transport Studies Unit, University of Oxford, UK in 2016.

Prof. Nikolova has worked on more than 20 international and national research and applied projects and has been a consultant to several European and state institutions.

She is a Member of the American Transportation Research Forum, the Center for Intermodal Transport at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Scientific and Technical Union for Transport. She is a member of the Boards of the Bulgarian Association for Intelligent Transport Systems and the Bulgarian Forum for Transport Infrastructure.  

Christina has over 130 scientific publications, including 14 textbooks; 7 monographs; participation in 3 collective monographs issued in the USA and UK and in 1 - issued in Austria; 10 studies and over 70 articles in referenced and indexed journals, published electronic reports on international projects and reports at prestigious international and national conferences and congresses.
