Donatella Selva is a sociologist of cultural and communicative processes (PhD at University of Urbino) and a tenure-track researcher at the Department of Political Science of LUISS University of Rome, where she teaches Sociology of Communication, Political Communication, and Crisis Communication. She is Principal Investigator of the MAEDINA project (Media, Audiences and Emotions in Driving Immigration News Avoidance), funded by a Starting Grant from the Italian Science Fund (FIS 2, MUR, 2025), a three-year mixed-methods project investigating news avoidance processes through an AI-supported experimental platform. Her research interests include digital technologies and everyday life, political and social uses of platforms, algorithmic cultures, political communication, and the role of emotions in audience engagement. She holds a Seal of Excellence from the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Horizon Europe, 2021). Among her publications: Emozioni digitali.
