I am professor of commercial law at Hanken School of Economics that I joined in 1996. I develop commercial law as a scientific discipline with its own theory-building and qualitative research methods. The areas that I have studied through the lens of commercial law include corporate finance, corporate governance, securities markets, electricity markets, climate change, and the digital economy. The most recent area is higher education. Much of my work focuses on EU law and comparative law rather than national law. My next book project is about the philosophy of commercial law, that is, the responsible organisation of the market economy and responsible corporate behaviour.
