Florentine Maier conducts research on the impacts of democratic and managerial forms of organizing in nonprofit organizations, and on ways to improve and integrate different forms of organizing. As part of the Civic Life of Cities Lab, she examines civil society and nonprofit organizations in cities. She teaches students and practitioners on general and nonprofit management topics, currently with a special focus on climate transition and psychosocial resilience in the face of multiple and persistent crises.
Prior to her habilitation in business administration (2018), she completed doctoral studies in social sciences and economics with a focus on human resource management, as well as a master's degree in commerce and Chinese language at WU. Furthermore, she studied Sinology and Chinese language at the University of Vienna and Dr. Sun Yat-Sen University (People's Republic of China) and was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Stanford University.
