Abstract: There is a gender gap in PhD student entrepreneurship in Italy, as Female PhD students exhibit lower entrepreneurial intention and activity. On the topic, in “The gender gap in PhD entrepreneurship: Why balancing employment in academia really matters”, Luiss Professor Giovanna Vallanti, along with her colleague Alessandro Muscio (Università di Foggia), focuses on the influence of gender balance among academics at the parent university, to measure the opportunities available to female students to engage with same-sex role models and the effect of such engagement on female students’ attitudes to applied research and entrepreneurship. Recently published in Research Policy, the study offers relevant implications of public interest, understanding and addressing how gender disparity in students’ entrepreneurial attitude can contribute to fostering a more inclusive and diverse entrepreneurial landscape.
