Holds a PhD in Information and Communication Technologies from La Salle - Universitat Ramon Llull (URL) since 2015. His thesis proposed a strategy to provide scalable transactional support in distributed databases deployed in cloud computing environments. Also, he received his MSc. degree in Telecommunications Engineering in 2008, and his BSc in Telematics in 2006. In 2015, he did a postdoctoral stage at the Human Sensing Lab in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, USA) where he researched new algorithms for real-time massive data processing. He is currently an Associate Professor at the Computer Engineering Department of La Salle - URL and the coordinator of the Cloud and Edge Computing area of the Group of Research in Internet Technologies and Storage (GRITS) at the same university. Additionally, he is the Program Coordinator of the Master in Big Data Engineering, where he exports the knowledge generated by the research group to graduate students. He has participated in several research projects (public and private funded) aimed to conceive secure data storage and processing architectures in critical infrastructures such as Smart Grids. So far, he has co-authored more than 20 international journal papers, contributed to more than 40 conferences, and supervised 2 PhD students. His research interests are focused on Distributed Systems, Cloud Computing, and Big Data storage and processing, among others.
